Interview with Chuck Westfall about the Canon 1D x

My good friend and bird photographer extraordinaire Doug Brown had a chance to interview Chuck Westfall, Canon USA’s Technical Advisor in the Professional Engineering and Solutions Division, about the new Canon 1D x. Doug was nice enough to call me beforehand to ask what questions I’d want answered (I was especially interested to know more about high ISO performance and why there aren’t autofocus points on the thirds of the frame, aka, the power points) so it was a great way to get a bit of inside information. Doug asked a number of interesting questions and was able to uncover some intriguing new info. Doug’s now like the Bob Woodward of nature photography investigative reporters. Hello Pulitzer!

You can check out Doug’s interview here, and while you’re there, be sure to check out the rest of Doug’s brand new website!

Cheers,

Greg

  1. Doug Brown says:

Thanks for the nice write-up Greg. If I’m Bob Woodward, does that make you Deep Throat???

  2. Greg Basco says:

Oh man! I was thinking I would be more Bernstein. Wouldn’t Mr. Westfall be Deep Throat? Did you meet him in an underground parking garage?

    Cheers,
    Greg
