greg basco's instructional photo workshops
As a professional rainforest photographer, I have to know my cameras and accessories inside and out because of the uniquely challenging conditions in Costa Rica and other rainforest areas in which I photograph. I truly believe that if you can take good photos in the rainforest, you can take great photos anywhere. I strive to make great images in-camera and that means using a variety of traditional and creative techniques, including flash, slow shutter speeds, high ISOs, wide apertures, and various filters.
My photo workshop tours are popular because they are true workshops. I dedicate my time during the trip to teaching you the techniques that I use in my own photography, not to taking my own photos. I do that on my own time :-). Through a mix of hands-on learning and formal presentations, I’m with you every step of the way! Though I use Canon gear, I am familiar with Nikon equipment as well.
All of my workshop tours (save for my US Bosque del Apache workshop) are organized through my Costa Rica tour company Foto Verde Tours, either on our own or in conjunction with my professional photographer co-leaders, depending on the trip. On each trip, I take care of you from arrival to departure, freeing you to concentrate on taking great rainforest photos. I'll be expanding trips into other areas of Latin America in the coming years with destinations including Ecuador, Peru, and Chile.
